Full Dentures

Full Dentures are appliances that provide dentition when someone is missing all of their teeth in either the upper arch, lower arch or both. They are customized to suit your individual situation using acrylic material and manufactured acrylic teeth.

Dentures, as well as natural teeth require regular examinations and maintenace to check the health of your mouth and supporting tissues. These checks and maintenace also ensure the maximum life expectancy for your denture.

Cast Metal Partial Dentures

Partial Dentures replace some missing teeth in either the upper arch, lower arch or both. Appearance is one reason that requires a partial denture but more often it is used to aid and improve mastication - the ability to chew food.

Cast Metal partial dentures provide a thinner, smaller option than most alternatives. They also provide strength and stability along with support for remaining teeth. Their rigid frame makes it possible to transfer bite forces to remaining teeth rather than the supporting gum tissue. Retention can be by either cast metal retainers, flexible nylon or tooth coloured resin.

Flexible Partial Dentures

Flexible Partial Dentures are made from an injected thermoplastic nylon. They are flexible, translucent and require no metal retainers because the flexibility of the base is used to retain the denture. Clear or tooth coloured resin retainers can also be used as a retention option.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate Dentures provide an option for people who are having their teeth extracted to not have to wait for their gums to heal completely before having their denture fitted. Impressions can be taken and the dentures can be made while there are still some teeth present. When the teeth are extracted the new denture is ready to be inserted by your dentist. This means that you never have to walk around without teeth.

There are some compromises that have to be made due to the fact that it is not possible to make the usual wax replica denture prior to extracting the teeth. As the gums heal and the supporting tissues changes because of the healing process these dentures may become a little loose. If this occurs a temporary denture lining may be used to adapt the fit surface of the denture to the tissue.

Once the healing process is complete, which can take 4 to 6 months, it is then possible to either reline the immediate denture or create an entirely new denture.

Denture Relines

As changes occur within your mouth and to the supportive tissues of your dentures it may become necessary to reline your denture. Certain changes within the body, including things like weight loss or ill health, can effect the tissues of the mouth as well and cause gum changes and shrinkage. If your denture becomes loose and ill fitting because of these changes it may be possible to reline the inside of your denture and improve the fit and the longevity of the denture.

This procedure entails taking an impression of your mouth using your denture as the tray. The inside of the denture is then relined providing a new surface and a tighter fit of the denture. This process does require the denture to be left with us for several hours.

Denture Repairs

Accidents do happen and dentures are not excluded from mishaps. Breakages or tooth loss from a denture can occur because the denture is dropped or sometimes through eating something too hard for the denture to cope with.

Sports Mouthguards

Custom fitted sports mouthguards help to protect your teeth or those of your children while participating in sporting activities. An impression is taken of the patient's mouth and a mouthguard is constructed to fit your personal dentition. This results in a more comfortable and well fitting protective appliance.
